Prettyboy D‑O unveils the fire "Odeshi" video

The Lagos rapper offers us a shortened visualiser for the track he released four days ago.

Prettyboy D-O is often perceived as a newcomer to the Nigerian music scene. Indeed, he has only one official project to his credit, “Everything Pretty”, released in 2018. However, even if he has been slowed down by contracts and labels problems, the artist has been active since 2012 and has been perfecting his art for eight years. Moving between New York and Lagos, the rapper/singer clearly positions himself as the toughest face of the Nigerian Alté scene. Having collaborated with alternative headliners like Santi (“Pull Up”) or the DRB LasGidi trio (“Kasala”), his visuals mostly reflect the harshness and explosiveness of his city, and the rapper remains faithful to the streets with his pidgin lyrics.

“Odeshi”, featuring emerging artist Tim Lyre, sees D-O deliver raw and powerful egotrip verses on a DaRe instrumental. Recurrent themes from the artist are present in the video. Just like in the “Pull Up” visuals, we see a big presence of mystical cults and fire, knowing that the artist wanted to represent Nigeria as a “hellfire” in his video with Santi. The rapper is also known for his flame shaped hair dyes, and has titled his next project Wildfire, scheduled for June 19.
